why did i not have to open ports on my new computer,it just installed and worked,maybe i should just not jinks it.                thanks

Even though this is old now, I feel the need to reply.

If you use a router to connect to the internet, and it was set up previously, that may be the reason.

Or, I have found, that with my newer router, there seems to be no need to open ports. It apparently figures these things out better than the old ones.

Would like to know that will echolink run on an iPhone or a Windows Mobile device & for which operating system will it support?

Echolink runs well on my Motorola Droid 2 running Android 2.2 on the Verizon Wireless network.
